After Dark

Whilst it's usually best to get out early when you're planning a walk with the kids, we instead got to our destination at 3pm, just as the sun was starting to cast a pinky glow low in the sky. Just the ticket when you're stepping back into the asylum that is Bangour Village Hospital - really adds to the atmostphere! Thankfully Aunty Deborah, Robyn and their dog Buttons had come along for the ride. The kids were wrapped up warm in their snowsuits and we had such good fun playing hide and seek. It was especially hilarious seeing Little D join in, covering his eyes and counting from 1 to 5 (whilst bouncing up and down) then shouting 'Where are you?'. We managed to lose 2 hours wandering around the grounds but decided it was time to call it a day as darkness fell and the buildings started to look just that little bit creepy in their silhouettes. Little D had also started screaming, just to add sound effects to the eerie backdrop. Definitely home time!

Whilst we'd been away, Rob had taken the side off Little D's cot, so he now has his very own bed. We put him in it, fast asleep from the journey home, and I slept in his room just to be on hand in case he fell out. So, was it a success? Well, no, not really. He slunk out of bed around 11pm and crept in beside me. Not quite the desired result but we'll work on it...let the battle commence.
