October Books

October books, our local community bookshop, was in the news last week. They moved from their rented shop, 150 metres along the road to the old NatWest Bank building which they have bought through various fundraising and donations. The reason for being in the news was that they moved the stock of 2000 books via a human chain of 250 people. It was quite a sight last Sunday. Today was the official opening, the picture is of the celebration cake! The bookshop is a co-operative and has survived since 1977, no mean feat in the current Amazon era.
