Towards Bassenthwaite

We decided to tackle a couple of Wainwrights today - ignoring the weather forecast of 80% chance of cloudy summits.

After parking at Legburthwaite we took an extremely steep route up Watson's Dodd.  In skiing parlance it would definitely have been a Black Run as there were some tricky stream crossings and an interminable climb up a steep grassy slope.

To add to our discomfiture the visibility dropped to about 10 metres and there was a strong wind blowing rain in our face.   Thank goodness for Satnav is what I say,  not because it was a particularly tricky route to navigate but it told us exactly how much more of this torture we had to endure.

When we reached the ridge we couldn't see a thing but as we descended there was some lovely light looking over towards Keswick.

One other problem was that my Olympus decided to go wrong.  Pressing the button caused absolutely nothing to happen so that was an unnecessary weight to carry up and down!  Fortunately a factory reset has sorted it out now we are home.   This image is a phone picture.

A hot bath had the same effect on me.  Now off to meet RockArea for a meal in town
