Unremarkable view across Seaford Bay.

However local ructions are brewing about proposed development over at the far side by the beach - what precise operations are to be allowed is not made clear.  There are competing views. Newhaven needs regeneration. For too long it has housed industry no-one else wants, eg the tip, the incinerator, the scrap metal depot.  However, people also live here, and there are inevitably tensions. for example, the terrible noise of the scrap metal being loaded onto ships is alleged to continue beyond its permitted time.  Yes, jobs are needed, but why does it have to involve free rein for businesses to build whatever they like right beside the beach (protected for birds and vegetation), next to the Tide Mills historic site, encroaching on the WW1 Seaplane Station.

Lewes District Council needs to stop thinking of this as its dumping ground.
