My First Poppy of the Season

Hardly any poppies have come up in my garden this spring. In autumn I sowed thousands of seeds in several places where poppies usually grow, but none of them came up. There are just a few small ones here and there. Very disappointing. I love my poppies and will miss their colour and exuberance.

I went to Christchurch today. It was very hot and muggy. By the time I arrived back home it was cool and raining. How refreshing it was to go out in the rain wearing summer clothing and feeling the raindrops on my skin.
