And it poured

I woke up to messages from happy teachers who didn’t have to work today due to the overnight deluge. As we live in a desert, the country doesn’t have the drainage in the roads to deal with this amount of rain. And apparently it was a noisy night with much thunder and lightning. Colleagues told me later in the day (yes, we worked) that their newly (and poorly) constructed apartments had flooded and I heard how someone overlooks an old apartment block where there is no roof normally so they were wondering how they fared. They’re most likely domestic workers, cleaners, shop assistants etc - part of the army of foreign workers.

The best thing about the rain was the crystal clear air, a rarity here. I wonder how long it’ll last. And now only about 25 degrees.

And a weekend tomorrow.
