A Long Wait

This time last year I was given some pieces of two salvias, cuttings, some of which rooted over the winter.  This is Salvia involucrata, just one cutting rooted.  Planted out near the front gate, a deliveryman taking a short cut planted their boot on it :-( soon after.  It's taken all summer to recover, finally coming into flower just in time for the frost to cut it down.  Still a beauty in the morning sunshine.  Extra pic shows the whole inflorescence which is about three inches long.

Garden clearance, cooking, cleaning old plant labels made up my day after an early trip out to get two new tyres fitted on the car.  While I waited I popped to B&Q for some mould remover and bathroom paint.  Thanks for friends advice on that one :-)
