Sharing experience

What could be better than getting together to share all your Tandem Language Exchange (TLE) experiences with each on a wet and windy Friday afternoon?

Even with the limited Italian language skill through her TLE practice, Anqi (Chinese, in red) braved into Italy after submitting her dissertation and managed to see her TLE partner, Marco, who continued to act as the cultural informant while taking Anqi around Roma.

Anqi attributed her excellent experience to joining the TLE programme. She said, 'it is so meaningful to gain life experience of other cultures. Before meeting my partner, I would never know a lot about eating habits and those customs in a different part of Italy.'

She also advised her fellow TLE participants 'to be active instead of passive, to be brave instead of staying in the comfort zone. Language cannot be learned if we don't apply it in the real interaction. Therefore, if you decide to take part in the TLE programme, step forward to embrace difference and meaningful moment with your partner. After all, just enjoy the process.'
