Blessed

Blessed by the bright moon,
and warmed by the generous sun,
it was a happy home.

Contentment reigned,
mostly. Storms
were short-lived.

If wrath rained
down…well,
they put up umbrellas

and weathered
its rage.
When wild winds blew

they tethered us all
to the core of their love.
If ever they worried,

about where
the next meal
was coming from,

if their rent was overdue,
we, their children,
never knew.

Blessed by the bright moon,
and warmed by the generous sun,
it was a happy home.
