My topsy-turvy life

Success?

A big day today as this was the day for the contrast X-ray to see how well the surgery had healed. Louisa stayed with him while I went behind the screen to watch.

The big risk -initially- with TOF surgery is that there is a leak in the oesophageal sutures.
The contrast showed NO leaks!
It was incredible to watch him swallow the contrast media and see how his repaired oesophagus dealt with it. There's certainly a bit of tightness around the join and the barium circulates in the top of the oesophagus before being squeezed down into the stomach. But it does go down. You can even see the stomach filling with fluid in the picture. So far so good and the surgeon, Mr Wilkinson, thinks it will be at least another 2 weeks monitoring in hospital.
