Migrant in Moscow

Poppy Day (tomorrow)

I've been reading about May and Macron's visit to Thiepval in France yesterday. Thiepval Memorial commemorates the 73,367 soldiers who died during the Battle of the Somme in 1916 and who remain there without an identified grave. Included among them are 929 South Africans who include my maternal great great grand uncle who perished during the Battle at Delville Wood in July 1916. Percival landed in France no doubt thrilled in some ways to be in Europe, only to be blown to bits two weeks later. "There shall be in that rich earth a richer dust concealed" as Theresa May quoted Rupert Brooke in her tribute on Friday.
