Bridge Tolls

Both the Severn Bridge and Second Severn Crossing tolls will be abolished on 17th December 2018.  The tolls started on the Severn Bridge on 8th Sept 1966 and the Second Severn Crossing on 5 June 1996.

The original toll was 12.5p (decimal equivalent) and rose to £6.80 (car) before being reduced to its current £5.60 (car) last year.

As Mrs BB was driving I thought I'd grab a photo of the motorists view of the automated robbery system!! It never even decreased when the VAT reduced from 17.5% to 15% in 2008!!!!

The Second Severn Crossing is now known as The Prince of Wales Bridge despite great opposition and the ceremony date was not given to the media!
