Wave - Imperial War Museum North

Coincidentally, three years ago this day I got the first sight of the Weeping Window version of this 14-18 Now project. This (along with Weeping Window at the Imperial War Museum, London) marks the end of their countrywide tour since they were first installed at the Tower of London in 2014. At the end of this month they will become part of the IWM's permanent collection.

I don't exaggerate when I say I have felt quite privileged to have seen them more than once and each time has been a quite sobering experience. They are beautiful structures and they honour the memory of the dead from that war in a subtle, but also powerful way. It's been a mammoth project and the logistics must have been challenging, but the team behind it have managed it perfectly.
