Bald Eagle

Lest We Forget

Tomorrow at 06.00 in Victoria Square in the village a lone piper will play Battle's O'er. This was the time 100 years ago that the Armistice was signed. This scene will be repeated at over 1000 locations around the world.

At 10.30 a procession will leave Victoria Square and make its way to the War Memorial next to the church. I have been given the great honour to toll a bell 126 times as they make their journey. Once for each man from the local area who lost their life in WW1.

Bells fell silent in 1914 and did not ring again until the War ended. As many towers as possible have been asked to ring at 12.30pm. We will be very limited but we will ring the best that we can.

Beacons are being lit all across the land at 7pm and one has already been installed on the roof of the tower. At 7.05 we will attempt a quarter peal.

Listen out for the bells near you to be ringing tomorrow.
