Armistice……..

…………….....………….Day

At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1919 fighting ceased and the guns fell silent.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

From our local paper - Armistice Day was formally inaugurated throughout the Commonwealth on 11th November 1919, when King George V requested that all British subjects observe two minutes silence to remember the fallen.

This photo was taken of local cadets and their leader at this morning’s service at the War Memorial in Motueka, NZ.
