Falling poppies

I've always found the sight of the poppies fluttering down from the roof of the Royal Albert Hall at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance very moving. My mother always said there was one for each person who had died in the two world wars. I'm not sure whether that is or was true.

Some years ago our son who was serving in the Royal Marines at the time, took part in the ceremony in front of the Queen, PM and the gathered audience.
He brought home some of the fallen poppy petals.
I've kept them.
