Here but not here

Each year in Natland, on Remembrance Sunday, the headmaster of the local school would read out the eleven names on the war memorial, but the names were recorded with surname and initials only.  When he retired he determined to discover the full names of those men.  This turned into a labour of devotion lasting several years, during which time he discovered six more men whose names have now been added, and documented as much as could be found about the life story of each one.  This year those stories have been on display inside Natland Parish church, along with many items of war memorabilia.  Additionally seventeen perspex soldiers have been placed in the pews throughout the church.  He didn't want photos of the displays to be put on a web-site, but was happy for me to show the figures.  Except they are perspex and therefore almost invisible.  There are three in the main photo, and one more in the first extra.  The second extra shows, on the left, the grave of one of these men, a young soldier who was killed on 8 November 1918, three days before the amnesty.
