Beavers' Poppies

What an amazing weekend it has been. We had a local man who has been researching the names on our war memorial for the past 5 years put on a display of his findings in our Church Hall. Personally I'd been quite sceptical about it but wow we have had so many visitors, many moved by his findings. People also enjoyed our attempts at Trench Cake and Anzac biscuits! Our service today tried to remember all those caught up in the First World War so the children were involved playing God Save the Queen on hand bells, a Women's Scratch choir singing  and a record turn out to Remember. On my way home late this afternoon I saw the sun catch these poppies which the Beavers and Cubs had made and laid at the memorial and felt they were a wonderful sign of hope.
