315/365 11th Nov 2018 At the going down of the sun !! We will remember them. On a day when we remembered the 100th anniversary of the ending of the 1st World War, on Allington Hill at sundown the last post was played surrounded by 153 small wooden crosses each bearing the name of a Bridport man who gave there lives. These men would most probable have known the hill and on a day of moving ceremonies The Allington Hillbillies who manage the hill organised a fitting tribute with a short service, St Swithun’s Band & Tinkers Cuss playing songs from the era and finally a burning torch parade up the hill to light a beacon at 7pm to join the thousands of others being light around the country. https://www.facebook.com/groups/allingtonhillbillies/
