Winds and War

Lovely, long walk in blustery wind and warm sunshine, followed by delicious roast duck and vegetables lunch, followed by a long nap, waking to lots of wind and rain. Mike lit the fire and made bread, then went off to the Roma church, feeling a lot better. The bread is in the oven, and very cozy in here...

Heard nothing about the Armistice; Portugal did fight in WWI, but stayed neutral in WWII, and am guessing both wars were overshadowed by their enormous losses in the colonial wars in Africa, which only ended after the Carnation Revolution in 1974.

That the UK is trying to separate from the rest of Europe and that the US is pulling up its drawbridge - makes me wonder if we really have learnt anything...

PS Grateful for Arachne articulating so eloquently some of what I was trying to say in my last paragraph.
