Remembering

I didn't see any sign of WW1 memorials in New Orleans today, apart from coverage of world leaders in France on CNN in the hotel lobby. But we visited the Whitney Plantation on our drive to Lafayette and that involved a different rememberance.

There are quite a few plantations or former plantations that are open to visitors. The Whitney is the only one which tells the story of the slaves who worked there. This is part of a memorial which lists the names of 107,000 slaves recorded in property records in Louisiana between 1719 and 1820.
