MM251 - Near Field Communication (NFC)

This is a macro shot of an NFC chip ( in fact, the one from my old passport ). 

These are the things that are responsible for the "contactless" card payments, Oyster cards, Android/Apple Pay and dozens of other proximity based communication. They're kind of cool, and you can actually use a modern phone handset to read quite a lot of them without need of additional fancy hardware !
