Collared Dove

This bird has defied all odds - before  the 1930's it was only seen in the Balkans but within 40 years it had spread throughout Europe and as far north as the Faeroe Islands. It can raise up to 5 broods (of two) a year - that's a lot of hard work but shows why it has increased its territory so well.  The extras are from my daily walk in the fields near here.
