From Now On...

Stairwell.........

Last Wednesday I mentioned the music that greets you as you enter The Royal Marsden Chelsea. Today the stairwell seemed to draw his playing upwards!  It really is an amazing hospital.

While on the train to London, I received a message from Gail to say she was being moved back to Sutton for the process of rehabilitation that has resulted from her unexpected and serious bowel operation. Within minutes of me arriving, we were on our way and wonderfully I was allowed to escort her. The transport supervisor said she "didn't see me get in the ambulance." All escorts have to be pre-booked apparently.

The driver was so careful and the journey was good...50mins. Gail was given a lovely welcome by the nursing staff and is in a room of her own. They were obviously as scared as we all were when the MRI showed the extent of her bowel trauma, which had nothing to do with her cancer. We were able to unpack the bags that had gone to Chelsea with her and I left her feeling calm and of course, smiling. There is some way to go but her stem cell transplant has been a success and for that we are so grateful; to God and to the many prayers for Gail and to the skills of the medical staff.

I made the mistake of not specifying which station I meant when I stopped to ask a young girl and had quite a walk before arriving at Sutton Station. So another new journey home. All strings to my bow.

I got home to find a note from D that he had been asked to take a friend (the mother of the four young boys we sometimes play with) to the local A&E with a suspected broken bone in her foot. She has and is on crutches and a boot for her foot!! Her husband messaged to say the boys had got him in hand! They are a great team though.
