Cenotaph Remembrance Sunday tributes

Now that Runrig have retired we’ve been on the lookout for the next generation of Scottish bands to carry on the Celtic rock music baton.

One such group is Tide Lines http://www.tidelinesband.com who we went to see at the Borderline Club in London this evening. And what a band, fantastic music, strong superb vocalist and an enthusiastic audience made for a great end to a super day in London. But why is is, at a standing gig, so many people feel the need to talk (or rather shout at each other) over the music?

The earlier part of the day we walked the streets and parks of the city from Victoria stopping at Westminster Abbey to see the British Legion display of crosses (extra) and the on down to the Cenotaph to pay our respects at the moving tribute there.

From the Cenotaph we crossed Horseguards into St Jame’s Park on to Green Park, Hyde Park and the Serpentine, Kensington Park ending up at the Natural History Museum via the Royal Albert Hall.

After a restorative cup of tea, aided by a much needed sit down in the Museum we caught the Tube to brash, busy Leicester Square for pizza then strolled up Charing Cross Road to the Borderline.

It was nip and tuck to catch the 22.55 train home, making it with two minutes to spare brought about by a failed tube train at Victoria.
