Shona the waitress

Mr C dropped me at the village hall to attend the WEA event. The hall had been set up as a reading room originally and it is where we hold our literature class. There was an exhibition of the current group of Ashington Pitmen Painters and other work the WEA does in the region. There was a between the two World Wars theme,, so Shona dressed as a maid vaguely from the period, to serve tea and cakes made from recipes of that era. I had quite forgotten about rock cakes. Someone did a talk about her grandfather’s WW1 experience. Our course leader led a workshop on “Our Man in Havana” as we wanted to publicise the class. Without more coming it can’t run. Unfortunately the whole event was very poorly attended. I don’t think it was put on the local social media site.
