My topsy-turvy life

Fragile: handle with care

That was an interesting night.
Owen started choking on his milk to the point where he couldn't swallow any and it was just pooling in the back of his throat, making it difficult for him to breathe.

We got him packed up and I took him into Shrewsbury A&E. They got him pretty much straight into resus (that worried Louisa when she arrived) and hooked him up to the monitors. They had a listen to his chest to make sure he -thankfully- hadn't aspirated and gradually started to settle.

They then spoke to paediatrics over at Telford and arranged for transport. After a brief desaturation which he managed to clear himself the paramedics had to use the smallest harness they had to strap him to the bed ready for transport. Louisa went with Owen and I followed in the car with Aaron.

At Telford he was assessed again, made nil-by-mouth and we insisted they spoke to his surgical team in Manchester. They decided he should be shipped up to them for a potential dilatation on his oesophagus...when they had a bed.

And so we waited........
