Autumn River

They're gorgeous at all times but the ecologist knows there's something special about streams in autumn. All the fallen leaves are being shredded by an entire community of invertebrates, making food available to allow what happens in spring to be prepared.
This is the Arrow at Pembridge, where I was for a stakeholder meeting about impacts of farming on aquatic ecosystems. It's a beauty.
