Encaracolado

During my second Portuguese lesson Ilidio was telling me about his studies in Kenya where everyone mistook him for a Somalian or Ethiopian because he had longer, wavier hair at the time. Encaracolado means curly or kinky, and is my new favourite Portuguese word hands down.

Part of the banking system appears to be down nationwide. Card payments and withdrawals are not possible everywhere we've tried today, which will become a problem after the five dollars worth of meticais in my wallet are spent.

On the long climb to our 14th floor apartment, we often come across older people in various states of exhaustion. For their sake and the sake of me lugging baggage back down, I hope the lift is mended soon.
