After the flood

Swans in Chester le Street park deserted the river and settled in the small lake near the children's play area left by the receding floodwater. Much calmer for them than the still raging torrent in the river.

Quiet and peaceful scene but the devastation left after the flooding needs to be seen to be believed. Some people now flooded three times this year. What's happening?
