Skip Rats

Watch Out...Watch Out....There's a Skip Rat about....

Our friendly builder told us to expect 'Skip Rats' once we started to have Skips delivered, filled and collected. So, what are Skip Rats you might ask? It is the phenomenon of people collecting materials from your skip either with or without permission. Sometimes this is quite useful as people can recycle materials, and in our case, old wooden doors. So, it can be quite environmentally friendly and result in a mutually satisfiable relationship. On the other hand, however, people can dump things in your skip. This can be really annoying, especially as skips are very expensive to hire and quickly get filled up. So, the Skip Rat issue is more important than you first realize.

Skip Rats Definition:
'a person who spends their time searching skips or rubbish tips for any discarded items that they can scrounge'

....or for the more fascinated...
