Makkin Torches

It's been a right cold day, breezy and mostly sunny.  Showers started at teatime.

Another day working on the museum desk and another quiet day.  Plenty of odds and ends to work through.  I met up with mam at lunchtime.  An hour at home, and then headed down to meet up with the squad boys.  Working in the pub tonight.

After being in the Jarl Squad earlier this year, our duties continue, and we have to make the torches for next year's Fire Festival.  The boys started at the weekend, I missed out being in Unst, but I made it tonight and got into the swing of things.  We've all had our owns jobs to do, some guys rolling hessian bags on to the handles, while mine was helping Chris get the hessian bags on the outer layer for the final finish.  Here's some of the production line in operation.  L-R - Mark Duncan, Andrew Cheyne, Marcus MacDonald, Alan Davidson, Laurence Williamson and Laurence Riddle.  Taken in the Scalloway galley shed.
