Legend of A River Red Gum Canoe Tree...

The Australian Aboriginal Canoe Tree - still often sighted within the scrublands and along the water-courses.

This river red gum is 'just around the corner' from us (once again) - is slowly fretting away on the ground at Chaffey Bend, on the River Murray.
We don't often see them on the ground, but looks as though it had fallen over at some time within it's long life. Bushfires claimed a lot of them over the years, but in the years well past, the local Aborigines would have cut out a canoe from this old tree, and no doubt used it on the river nearby.. It is in peace now, in a very peaceful setting, but still tells us a little of its legend, a legend which will continue forever.
