Flower Spikes

The N.Z. Cabbage Tree, Cordyline australis, is an impressive sight when fully grown at about 20 metres. I read that its trunk is so fire resistant it was used by the early European settlers to make chimneys for their huts. This one is growing at the edge of the bush and I could smell the sweet scent of the flowers some distance away.
Thanks to Anni (Biker Bear) for hosting Flower Friday.
