(Hips and) Haws

The winter-visiting flocks of Redwings and Fieldfares have not reached this part of Cumbria yet, though I have seen a few.  I assume this has much to do with the benign weather so far this autumn.  When they do arrive they will discover a feast of fruit and berries.  Owing to the spectacularly warm summer this year the haws are super-abundant, and bigger than I think I have ever seen - more lie cherries.
