Straw poll in Maidstone High Street

Not quite the usual winter Saturday. No rugby watching or refereeing today owing to very few matches being played. Probably everyone was wanting to watch the last 4 games of the autumn internationals (or go shopping). In between cooking duties I watched Wales play South Africa and Scotland v Argentina. With wins for England against Australia and Ireland against USA it was a clean sweep for the Home Nations.

I’m not much given to rants on Blip, so please excuse the rest of this. I shan’t be offended! Today’s blip was taken in town and is a Silly Saturday entry about something that is of vital importance. Whatever your persuasion about Brexit we seem to be in an unholy mess. Those who want out aren’t happy, those who want in aren’t happy. Nobody is happy, our nation and constituent countries are divided. Our relationship with the EU will be worse as we’ll still be abiding by their rules but have no say in their formulation or implementation.

And as for those prominent Brexiteers, they are shameful. Instrumental in persuading voters to leave the EU they’re not leading the process of leaving but merely sniping viciously when they don’t like what’s being negotiated. Theresa May, whatever your politics, has been dignified whereas the others have not. She’s shown integrity and commitment to the UK that is sadly lacking in her enemies in the Tory party.

How many more days to go?
