Elisar's calamansi marmalade

Also known as the Phillipino Lime (or the calamondin in the US), this tiny citrus fruit of a cross between a mandarin and a kumquat.

Elisar and I had been discussing his latest batch of preserve on Facebook. I was delighted to taste it.

The first taste for me was of the sea (but that's probably only me). After that, lime kicked in, followed by the fragrance and sweetness of mandarin.

Tasting a spoonful last night at Lisa's party, the flavour lingered longer than my virgin mojito.

Lovely and memorable.
