Carys and Lauren Cuthbertson

It was tricky choosing a blip today, but this won out as she waited patiently for over an hour and a half to meet Lauren Cuthbertson, principal of the Royal Ballet.

Earlier, after her RBS class we went to watch La Bayadere at the Royal Opera House. It was stunning, particularly the entrance of the Shades in Act 2 which comprises of 39 arabesques!

After we waited at stage door to get a few autographs, including Christopher Wheeldon (she's annoyed now that she didn't ask for a photo), Kevin O'Hare and Olga Evreinoff. Gary Avis knew we were waiting to see him and as usual was lovely to her, giving her (and me) a big hug. Asking about how her dancing was going, telling me to take her out of the fertilizer and of course having a photo together. After Gary left, Matty Ball (Royal Ballet Principal) came out and was also lovely. He was talking to another child about how hard work often trumps talent in the long run and how not getting into WL isn't the end of the world as there are many different paths in ballet. Great for Carys to hear.

When Lauren finally came out, there were only five of us left. But it was worth the wait for C's smile!
