Brrrr!

Back to Oxford Island Discovery Centre café to meet my brother & his girls for lunch. Just like two weeks ago as we finished lunch, I could see there was a gathering at the slipway, of the band of crazy brave swimmers aka Lough Neagh Monster Dunkers. They seem to meet for a 2 pm swim, I heard the instructions that any new swimmers were only to stay in 6 minutes, maximum & a whistle would be blown for them to get out, the more experienced could stay in 10 minutes. We heard them say water temperature was 6.5oC, it felt chilly standing around.
This time there was a mixture of singing “Onward Christian soldiers” & “Here we go, here we go”. It must generate lots of positive endorphins despite the cold water, as there were so many smiling faces, more so than on the faces of the onlookers. They seem to head to the café to thaw out with  for tea/coffee & shortbread & a chat afterwards.
