Stenhousemuir

A few weeks ago, when the draw for the Third Round of the Scottish Cup was made, most Falkirk fans would have been happy to get an away tie at local neighbours Stenhousemuir.

Even though the Bairns' league position, currently bottom of the Championship, was not good, that of Stenhousemuir was even worse - bottom of Scottish League Division 1, the league below the Bairns.

The match started well for the visitors. Falkirk scored in the first five or six minutes and we all sat back (actually we were in a standing-only area of terracing) expecting a comfortable win from there. Stenhousemuir had other ideas and then scored twice, upsetting the form book and the relative sizes of the two teams.

Just before half-time, Falkirk equalised and, once again, we all expected that a victory would be on the cards once the second-half started.

It was not to be. Stenhousemuir scored twice without reply in the second half and ran out 4-2 winners. It was a deserved victory and I wasn't the only Falkirk supporter in the ground disappointed not only with the result but also the performance of our favourites. Some times it's hard being a football fan!
