I had a saunter through the community orchard and woods this morning before the predicated rain, and although the air was quite still I should have worn a hat to keep my ears warm.
The fungi is largely past its best now but there are still quite a lot of leaves on the Oak and Hazelnut.
The shock came when I got back on the path and saw the big Ash, which had a greater spotted woodpecker nest a couple of years ago, had been slaughtered and was standing there like a head and armless body. Sad.
I rather like the seeds of the dock hanging on and still adding a little colour to its surroundings.
