Bath Christmas Market

Today we had a little adventure as we went by train to Bath from Castle Cary which was a first for us .
Things didn’t go to plan when as soon as we were on the first train to Westbury we realised that one of our 4 tickets was missing ! Fortunately we had a receipt but the ticket inspector wasn’t impressed .
Also, we hadn’t realised how busy the trains would be -standing room only from Westbury to Bath and similarly on the return journey. I was actually quite scared because the trains were so packed that should anything have gone wrong no one would have been able to move .
However, it was lovely to be in the ‘big city’ - we felt quite fazed by the bustle as we are so used to such quiet areas!!! We found a brilliant cafe for lunch near the theatre called ‘The Thoughtful Cafe ‘ which baked all bread and cakes itself on the premises as well as serving local cheeses and artisan coffee.
The market was as usual magical - this was my favourite stall where we bought several cinnamon fruit hangings full of the Christmassy smells.
We also went in the Abbey for the first time although I didn’t feel it had such a beautiful ‘feel’ as Sherborne Abbey or my favourite,Wells .
Coincidentally, on the train coming home we started to chat to a woman standing by us who it turned out had just moved into Milborne Port into whose literally round the corner from us . Small world !
