The Farm Shop

This is a proper farm shop.  It hasn't been tarted up to look "rustic", nor have the staff been made to wear branded clothing.  The produce is not laid out on fresh straw, nor the prices printed on labels.  This gentleman, who assured me that he had been working on the farm for 70 years "without a break" is the father of the family and most of the displayed food has been grown there.

I discovered that swede, although it will grow on his farm, comes from Scotland where the lower temperatures seem to impart it a better flavour.  I didn't tell him that I was surprised that any swede could be described as having a flavour (;-)) . . .
