Slug's eggs

While doing a little winter planting, I discovered a clutch of slug's eggs.

The one on the left of the photo is  a full centimetre long.

I leave you with a thought to ponder.

Why is it that we grieve over the death of a precious snow leopard but it is quite acceptable to try to wipe out tseste flies or malaria mosquitoes and even garden pests?
