Cochineal rose

The cochineal is a scale insect in the suborder Sternorrhyncha, from which the crimson-coloured dye carmine is derived.

A rose is a woody perennial of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae.

Ms GW calls this a cochineal rose.
