My topsy-turvy life

Keeping Focus

A bit of a traumatic day started with Owen's feeds getting more difficult and then becoming impossible to the point where he couldn't even manage 1ml.

We saw the surgical team who said that they would have him on the list for tomorrow for another dilatation. Over the course of the afternoon though his ability to cope with his saliva got worse and worse and he was desaturating every few minutes and needing loads of suction to remove it as he just couldn't deal with it himself.
So...it was decided to get him into surgery tonight.

He went down at about half 6 and the surgeons came back just after 8 to say everything was good. I went down to recovery to get him but unfortunately he wasn't quite as comfortable as usual and still needing a little help breathing from time to time so we stayed with the anaesthetic team -delaying their emergency list- while we waited for a bed in HDU so that he could be monitored a bit more closely overnight. He was finally getting settled in HDU by about midnight.
He's going for the full house of wards I think.

We did have one settled spell where we watched Football Focus together...I say together...one of us was actually sleeping at the time, probably explaining the settled spell.
