Getting the sparkle back

Threipmuir Reservoir

On a very grey day, on the familiar round of Threipmuir and Harlaw Reservoirs in the Pentlands, where I was last three weeks ago. It wasn't a great day for photography particularly with the reservoirs still looking less than their best. The cloud had lifted a bit, leaving a band of low-level cloud, but it later came down again and was altogether very dreich. However, it wasn't so bad that we regretted being out - it's nearly always better to go out and get some fresh air.

We saw whooper swans, geese (probably greylag, but could have been pink-footed), goldeneye and various unidentified waterfowl. My binoculars got wet and I couldn't see much through them!
