Nuthatch

Today's the day ……………………… to be versatile

Much to our delight, we have a couple of nuthatches that regularly come to the feeders in the garden.

And contrary to what you might think, bearing in mind their name, their preferred food of choice is - sunflower seed.  You might also think that they would have trouble hanging on to a slim metal pole with those big claws much more appropriate for wooden bark?  But they're down it like a fireman's pole to get the seeds that have dropped on to the ground.

One thing that doesn't change though, no matter where they find themselves, is how bossy and dominant they are.  They're right at the top of the pecking order when it comes to feeding time …………………...
