we have lights!

for the first time ever it seems, tonight has seen a switch on of lights in South Benfleet as the local community pulled together to raise funds for decent lights and a tree, as the local council always seemed to fail miserably at the task!

So tonight was the big switch on, which took place by the side of a busy main road, but everyone was good humoured and I think a lot of the people driving by were a little perplexed as to what was going on! Lots of people turned out to see local school choirs sing and a brass band play before the big switch on and some fireworks!

And then it was only right that we stopped at a local chippy on our walk home for a bag of chips for dinner! My kind of night!!
