The all seeing eye

Had a cracking day today. Went up to Barley village with Quotidian to climb Pendle Hill.

It was such a beautiful, calm quiet day with hardly a soul about. Unfortunately the mist & cloud came down over the tops of Pendle Hill and made it quite dangerous so we had to give up and walk lower down.

Did however get to see this. Its an eye built into the 13th century church tower of St Marys in the hamlet of Newchurch. The idea was that it should ward off evil and seems quite a pagan device for a christian church. Have to realise how superstitious people were then, it was 300 years after this was built that they had the famous Pendle witch trials!

Great day together and now both about to crash out pooped! :)
